About Me
Hi i’m Max
I’m a UK-based product designer with a First Class degree in Product Design (BSc). My focus is on creating thoughtful, functional objects that make everyday life a little better.
My approach combines both respect for tradition and curiosity for what’s next. Whether I’m designing for wellbeing, sustainability, or play, I aim to create products that are honest, intuitive, and built to last. I value hands-on making, iterative thinking, and design that serves a clear purpose. I often draw from natural systems, familiar rituals, and subtle storytelling to further my products.
Over the past few years, I’ve had the chance to work on a wide range of projects from developing a smart fermentation monitor, a free surf & vanlife magazine and a Surfboard Stacking boardgame. I’ve also worked closely with big brands like Bird & Blend Tea Co. and Big Potato Games. I was proud to win the University of Sussex Dyson Award & The Product Design Team Award For Most Circular Final Year Project well as be selected to exhibit at New Designers 2024 & 2025.
At the core of everything I do is a belief in design that’s grounded, meaningful, and quietly innovative. I care about the details, the way things feel in the hand, and the stories they tell.
My Values
Sustainability
I approach every project with an eye toward longevity and minimal impact. For me, sustainability isn't an afterthought, it's woven into the design process from the very first sketch, ensuring the products I design are as responsible as they are beautiful.
Honesty
My design process is built on honesty. This means being transparent about materials, capabilities, and timelines, and always giving direct, constructive feedback to deliver the most authentic and effective solutions.
Collaboration
Great products are never made individually. I thrive on collaboration, working closely with engineers, marketers, and stakeholders to integrate diverse perspectives into a unified, market-ready, and successful design.
Humility
My humility is rooted in prioritizing the people who will actually use the product. It means accepting that I am not the user; the user is. I approach every project with the understanding that their needs, frustrations, and behaviours must must be the forefront of all design decisions, ensuring the final product truly benefits the user.
